About me

Hey everyone, my name is Regina Nelson, and welcome to my little corner in the amazing industry of voices.

My very first self-made demo

It is always best to get a professionally produced demo and I highly suggest it, however when I first got started in the voiceover industry professionally, I did not have the means to get a professionally produced demo, what I did have was an amazing industry coach who taught me the ins and outs of the voice acting industry.

With a lot of self-training on demos, many YouTube videos later, thousands of notes taken, and tons of trial and error, I produced my very first demo. It can be done but you must put in the time to learn and work. This demo is not perfect in the least bit, but I am still so proud of it.

Hit play and enjoy!

With years of experience under my belt I am passionate about what I do and am so grateful that I get to do this full time. I began using my gift of voice over in the most unlikely but most humbling of all places. Church! I was asked by the media team years ago to do the announcements at church and fell in love with it. It was then that I knew that

“THIS” is what I was born to do!

After recording a session of my voicework at church, a seasoned radio professional recognized my gift and approached me about doing some voiceover work in radio.

Jumping at the opportunity I began to work on my craft tirelessly and was featured in some radio commercial spots for a radio station out of Dallas, TX. One thing led to another, and I was getting offers for bigger projects.

I couldn’t get to where I am without putting in the hard work it took to perfect my craft which I still do daily.

I was blessed to have one of the best voice coaches in the industry “L-Michelle”. She taught me the ins and outs of the industry from the microphone to the business contract. To this day she is still my voice coach.

Now as a full-time voice actress I bring characters to life through animation, lend my voice to commercials, and immerse myself in the diverse array of projects that come my way. With each script I infuse authenticity and emotion, creating memorable experiences for listeners everywhere.

Studio

I currently am recording in my personal soundproof studio using the Rode NT1 microphone, scarlet interface, adobe audition and adobe premiere software. I have the ability to connect with studios around the world and have remote live recording sessions using connect source.

I also travel to studios worldwide when requested.

I am a self-trained engineer and have the ability to engineer my recordings upon request of the client based on their needs. I have the ability to provide and deliver to my client quickly upon request.

It really depends on the needs of the client; I make sure that I have a full understanding of the clients’ needs prior to beginning any work.

A dry recording is an unproduced recording, meaning it is my voice and no engineering has been applied to it.

I write my own scripts only if the client has requested that I do and after we have had a full meeting or several finalizing the verbiage before I begin recording.

You will hear many different replies from many different voice actors/actresses. I personally believe with the technology we currently have; this level can be achieved at a faster rate than it would have been 30 years ago. However, it does take you the “voice actor” the dedication, hard work, and willingness to be coached in order to achieve it.

When someone in this particular industry is talking about treatment of your space, it generally means how your recording space is prepped regarding sound proofing.

How your recoding space is sound proofed is one of the more important factors in getting a clean fresh recording.

When getting into the industry, Youtube has a plethora of information regarding this topic. Larger spaces must be sound proofed differently than a small tight space.

The answer is “No”, but it is important to have a good acting / voice acting coach, that know about the industry, and to train you.

You must think about it this way, in voice acting you don’t put on make-up and costume in order to assist in bringing forth a character to life. In voice acting, you must convey, a setting, scene, character, makeup etc. all in your voice and make it believable to the listener.
